Glow From Within Skin Smoothie

Skin Nutrients you want to prioritize getting into your diet for healthy skin!

Skin health depends on many factors such as diet, lifestyle, environment and genetics. There are some key dietary things that can influence skin- vitamin C for healthy collagen production, green tea for antioxidants and proper detox, fibre for regularity and healthy elimination as well as hormone balance and healthy fats for skin hydration and protein for tissue synthesis. This smoothie incorporates many of these for glowing skin.

Glowing Skin Smoothie

  • 1tsp matcha
  • 1 frozen banana
  • 1/3 cup frozen cherries or other dark berries.
  • 2 tbsp ground flax seeds
  • Small Handful of raw cashews or other nuts
  • 1/2 – 1 cup of liquid (water, or unsweetened coconut water or any milk of your choosing)
  • Ice (optional)

Add all ingredients above to a blender and blend until smooth and creamy. Adding the liquids helps with hydration (especially coconut water, which contains electrolytes) and ensures your smoothie isn’t too thick or gritty, especially with protein powder and flax.

Then add the following optional ingredients and blend until well mixed.

  • Optional – be 1 scoop of unflavoured protein powder of choosing
  • Optional – 1 scoop of collagen powder (type 1 and 3 or marine collagen)

Eating a well-balanced diet that is rich in nutrients can be beneficial for overall skin health. Here are some foods that you may want to consider including in your diet to promote healthy skin:

1.    Fatty fish such as salmon, tuna, and mackerel, which are rich in omega-3 fatty acids that can help reduce inflammation and protect skin from sun damage.
2.    Nuts and seeds such as almonds, walnuts, and sunflower seeds. These are rich in vitamin E, a potent antioxidant that can help protect the skin from damage caused by free radicals.
3.    Fruits and vegetables such as berries, citrus fruits, sweet potatoes, and leafy greens, which are rich in vitamins A, C, and E as well as other antioxidants that can help promote skin health and protect against damage.
4.    Whole grains such as brown rice, quinoa, and whole-wheat bread, which are rich in fiber and can help regulate blood sugar levels, potentially reducing the risk of skin inflammation.
5.    Green tea, which is rich in antioxidants called catechins that can help protect the skin from damage caused by UV radiation.
